Hey all, I need to get a new guitar for Rock Band and I can't decide between the new Rock Band guitar, or the new Guitar Hero guitar. They both seem like good options so it makes it hard to decide. Does anyone have any thoughts about this.

My Rock Band guitar died fairly quickly.
The best guitar, by FAR, for these games is the wireless Les Paul model. It's the most natural shape, and works the best with the least amount of problems, plus the tactile response on the strum bar is definitely superior to the mushy feel of the Rock Band guitar. The wireless part is fairly awesome as well.

The only downside is that some songs in Rock Band (especially Green Grass and High Tides on Expert) are simply impossible to complete without the solo frets.

Yeah, I prefer the guitar hero controller over the rockband controller.

I ended up deciding to wait to get a new guitar right now. I had a Rock Band party last night, and I really think I have come to realize that I like the feel of the Rock Band Strat the most. I just feel like I can play faster with the lower profile fret buttons. It is definatly not perfect though. The strum bar is a bit mushy like you all mentioned (I think they fixed that in the rock band 2 version though), and the tilt sensor sucks.

No I haven't really had a chance to try it. I heard it was basically the same as the old guitar hero guitars, with a few differences, and the touch pad was useless.

You didn't mention what system you're using.
There might be compatability issues depending on which system you're using and which guitar you choose.

You should be good then. The 360 is the best in terms of compatability, in that most guitars will work with the other games. The Wii is easily the worst.
